Fejl på installationer i lejligheden er oftest beboerens ansvar. Installationer for brugsvand, varme, ventilation, afløb og elforsyning, der løber lodret mellem lejligheder, tilhører oftest ejendommen og vedligeholdes af foreningen. Ved konstateret misbrug af disse installationer vil udgifterne til afhjælpning af fejlen blive sendt videre til skadevolderen.

Afløb fra køkken er kun beregnet til flydende væsker. Faste stoffer som vatpinde og bleer kan tilstoppe afløbet fra toilettet, og oftest i lejligheden.

Kun lort, pis og papir er tilladt i toilettet.
